Community Action is Fun

Members of Click 4 Action eRotary continue to plan, deliver and have fun while they undertake Service in their communities, two months already into the new Rotary Year and there is so much underway.

Patients SafetySaturday 30th August Rotarian Sunil Prakash involved his eRotary connections in a well attended seminar, he reports: “The seminar cum workshop by IPC was a grand success. The volley of questions for clarifications from the audience were well tackled by the panel members consisting of Rtn. Dr. Sunil Prakash representing Consumers Forum, Rotary Eclub 1100 and International Alliance of Patients Organization, then By Mr. Arun Kumar of Dignity india and finally by Dr. Toda Prasad of Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission.

This was not all. The students of IMS law college and members of Consumer Club organised a competition on ‘EBOLA’, the deadly disease going around the world. 10 students spoke very well with a lot of material and information on the same.  Three students, bagged the First , second and third award. First position went to Ms. Swati Chakravarti, second to Ms. Shrishti Guha and third position to Mr. Anmol Singh. Congratulations to them. Other students also spoke very well. We congratulate and thank all the participants for speaking on a common subject and with full confidence.”

Rotarian Ray Chair of MAD Foodbank Steering Group helping at Commissioning Service

On Sunday 7th September some of the Click 4 Action eRotary members were pleased to be at the Commissioning Service of the Malmesbury and District Foodbank at the United Reformed Church. On the 8th September the MAD Foodbank opened and it is with fun memories we remember our visit to the Trussell Trust in July 2013 where the seed was sown and the idea of the eRotary helping to support the work of Foodbanks first began. Two of our Rotarians are trustees of this project and are pleased to be working in partnership with the Churches Together in Malmesbury.

Please visit our MAD Foodbank Facebook pages and help by sharing the posts. Don’t forget to let us know how you are helping the Foodbank movement in your communities.

One Wheel on my Wagon

Being part of eRotary you are reminded of being a pioneer in the wagon train which is rolling along, while we are singing that song ‘One Wheel on my Wagon and the Cherokees are after me, yes and we are singing a happy song’. Indeed we are really happy about how Click 4 Action eRotary is developing, as we will show in this latest News Update.

We are planning to organise after Easter a Musical Concert to help raise funds for Roll Out the Barrel, more about the event once we have it organised.

eRotary in Malmesbury

Current we have three eRotarians in the Malmesbury area, we would like to increase our numbers so anyone interested please come and Join Us . Working with the Churches Together in Malmesbury,  in January we started exploring the development of a local Foodbank (see article in local Gazette & Herald) working with the Trussell Trust.  We are also developing a new initiative to involve people in being volunteers with Rotary Projects, using the Rotary Community Corps RCC-rgbprogramme, which we’ve called Community Act. Here we are putting together a team to help with community initiatives such as the food bank and flood prevention. For more information about the RCC please visit our website.

London Calling

President Janice is looking forward to meeting members of Click 4 Action eRotary in London in March, no fancy dance floor awaits us, just some fun together offline and a chance to get to know each other and enjoy some of the London sights.

So how does eRotary work?

Many times this question is asked of us, well the answer is we are still exploring the different and exciting ways, however we have put Service above Self as one of our prime objects – members are asked to undertake this in three ways:

  • Personal Service – stuff you do in you community on your own or with others e.g. I belong to Trusts and other things as a Rotarian. The other day an eRotarian was helping people in Kent who had suffered due to the floods. In the Mason household they are now on a recycle campaign, this is personal service around the environment which we could all do as a campaign within eRotary. We support our Rotary District with quite a high proportion of members holding District Office.
  • Online Service – helping us to get out to the widest audience our weekly programmes, news updates and eAwareness Campaigns – like the Autism Awareness and Mental Health Awareness – a simple retweet or share post is fantastic for spreading the message. Plus helping raise funds through Easy Fundraising and eBay is great too.
  • Community Service – when some of us get together to do projects together, this could be anywhere of course or it might be in conjunction with another Rotary Club. The Get Tied Up with Rotary is a good illustration of our service and the bush planting we’ve undertaken another.

We are Rotarians with a pioneering approach to New Ways of doing Rotary…

  • We want very much to work in partnership with traditional Rotary Clubs to offer people who would like to be Rotarians, but time or other circumstances prevent them, to join us and do Rotary when they can.
  • We want to involve younger people in Rotary, so we are exploring ways to ensure this is possible, we want to be affordable, accessible and inclusive.
  • We do Rotary that offers flexibility, do it when you can and enjoy the contribution you make however limited.
  • We want to help communities in the UK as much as those Internationally.
  • We hope that we can help people to realise their aspirations, passions and give them opportunity to develop in themselves whilst they give to others.
  • Read about why our Secretary Tim Mason is a Rotarian.

Yes we are eRotarians and we’re singing that happy song…….come join us

eDraw to help Click 4 Action

David Pratt

David Pratt our Click 4 Action eRotary Foundation Officer asks you for your help as we launch our new initiative to support The Rotary Foundation.

Dear Rotarians and friends of the Click 4 Action eRotary (District 1100 eClub), your relations, friends and anybody else who may be interested and just anyone in the World – yes I do mean the World – who appreciate what Rotary International is achieving for those who need help, the vulnerable in our communities throughout the world, and  would like to make a small contribution to help what is being done. I would also like to touch the Heart of those that would like to make a contribution, but with a chance of winning something back. Wouldn’t we all?

This is the Opening Month of the Click4Action Foundation eDraw – and you all have the opportunity of joining in the first month and being in the first C4AeDraw which will take place on 1st November 2013.

Click-to-Win-image

So, What is the C4A Foundation eDraw?  – It is fundraising with a chance of winning a monthly prize.

The Fundraising aspect provides monies to the Rotary Foundation, the world’s largest charity, whose work has improved the lives for millions of people across the world.

You may have heard of the Rotary campaign, End Polio Now, to rid the world of this terrible disease. Or you may know of the relief freely given in times of worldwide disasters. Or you may know of the initiative to rid the world of malnutrition, lack of water and poverty. All this comes from the small fundraising initiatives held by over 35,000 Rotary Clubs worldwide.

Hence the Rotary District 1100eClub and this C4A Foundation eDraw.

The Chance of Winning a Monthly Prize is part of the Foundation eDraw. Each month a draw is made selecting a winner from all the participants in the eDraw.

Clcik4Action-button

So, How does this work?

You are asked to subscribe £1 each month for 12 months, with £12 payable when you join and hopefully each subsequent year on your joining anniversary. Each month the £1 is divided 50% to Rotary Foundation and 50% to the winner of the C4AeDraw. The winner is chosen each month by a computerised random selector and will be announced by the eRotary President. As more and more people join the bigger the contribution to Foundation, but also to the Prize winner, who is paid immediately on the first day of the month via BACS into their bank account.

Just think forward to the time when there are 100, 500 or more subscribers – YOU could win £x00’s!  What would you do with £250 for just a £1 entry?

Oh and by the way, there is NO LIMIT to the number of subscriptions you may want to take. Of course the more subscriptions you take the better the chance of winning and the more help you are giving to those who need help in our communities throughout the world.

The Subscription form is on the Monthly eDraw website, please help us help others and create a Win Win opportunity by your generous contribution of a few subscriptions.

Thank You – David Pratt, Foundation Officer, Click 4 Action eRotary

“I can’t hear you with all this noise. Would you mind staying behind afterwards to tell me what you know about how the fight started.” What a chat up line! But it was the sentence that changed my life uttered by the man I went onto to marry, says Janice Mason.

My dream is to compile a book of how people met, a collection of new beginnings, from the most incredible to the every day, the stories that you couldn’t invent, they just happen and change the course of lives.

All you need to do send your stories of how you and your partner met and about the pivotal moment that changed the course of your lives to janice.mason@1100rotaryeclub.org and we can raise funds towards End Polio Now. Please pass on this leaflet Love to help Thank You
